From Skinner Plaza To The New Museum

9o YEARS IN THE MAKING

Our History is The Guam Museum’s History.

The Senator Antonio M. Palomo Guam Museum & Educational Facility  is a place which  all Guam’s people can be proud.  Within these walls and on the grounds the stories of the past will come alive, and new imaginings and new stories will emerge. The Guam Museum reflects the diversity, creativity, and resilience of Guam and the Mariana Islands.  It will encourage people to engage in dialogue, to share multiple perspectives and experiences, and debate issues that concern us all today.

We welcome everyone to experience the long awaited permanent exhibition: The Journey of the CHamoru People

Historian and author Don A. Farrell will be presenting, “The Reconstruction of Guam: 1944-1950” on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2019 at 6:00 pm in the Guam Museum Indoor Theater. Farrell’s lecture will coincide closely with the anniversary of V-J Day, also known as Victory over Japan Day, or Victory in the Pacific Day, which is commemorated on September 2nd. V-J Day marks the surrender of Japanese Imperial Forces with the signing of the surrender document that officially ended World War II. Farrell will present his insights and historic photographs after the Japanese Occupation of Guam, the rebuilding period of the island as a staging ground for US military forces to end the war and the immediate postwar reconstruction. Does your child know what to do when they are approached by strangers? Are they receiving unwanted messages on the Internet? Do they know someone who is hurting them at school? Let's help our kids know what to do to protect themselves. The Guam Museum, in partnership with the Guam Police Department, Guam Fire Department and the Office of the Attorney General, invites families to learn about personal safety in the home, school and online through interactive exercises and demonstrations that will help kids develop good habits for safety in the home and in the community. Families with children 5 to 10 years old can participate in our morning session from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Families with children 11 to 14 years old can participate in our noon session from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Each session will conclude with a Hafa Adai Pledge Ceremony for completing this months' Ha'anen Familia Life Lessons in Safety. Space is limited so call the Museum at
