Ha’ånen Famila – Storytelling Workshop

Ha’ånen Familia — Storytelling Workshop: “Kintusi I Hanom – Speaking To Water”
Saturday, September 9, 2017 — 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. — Museum Multipurpose Room

What makes a story or poem powerful and memorable, and how can we encourage the flow of our unique Pacific stories from one generation to the next? In the Humanities Guåhan exhibition, Hita I Hanom, We are Water, and its storytelling collection Kintusi I Hanom (Speaking to Water), Guam’s oceans and rivers inspire stories, chants, poetry, performances and oral histories that display the exciting creativity of our island community. The Guam Museum welcomes Humanities Guåhan for a special Ha’ånen Familia that encourages families to express their creativity together, by creating stories or poems from their own ocean experiences to pass on. Humanities Guåhan and Guam Museum staff will offer guidance through creative writing prompts and lessons, and will screen examples of CHamoru and Pohnpeian poetry from the Kintusi I Hanom collection.
