I Hale’ta,: Desde Åntes Esta i Mamaila’, or, “Our Roots: Past and Future,” presents the “roots” of the Museum and acknowledges i manmofo’na — the people who came before us— who were instrumental in developing its diverse collections and exhibits. The exhibit also explores the Museum’s new location and the architect’s vision for the building’s unique design.The Guam Museum is a state-of-the-art facility of which all of Guam’s people can be proud.
The new Museum reflects the diversity, creativity and resilience of Guam and the Mariana Islands. Among the collections are ancient artifacts and photographs of life in Guam under three different colonial flags. The Museum welcomes everyone to see the tangible objects of culture and heritage of the Chamorros, and encourages people to talk about and share their perspectives and experiences..
For 90 years many people have contributed to the effort to create a place for Guam’s important historical objects that encourages learning and growth. Join us in this journey through the Museum’s history and share your vision for the future.
Exhibition will run from November 4, 2016 to January 22, 2017.
